Singer,
Songwriter ..... |
 |
| Ray
Price, protege of Hank Williams, is one of the most significant
artists in Country Music. Ray's Band, The Cherokee Cowboys,
has been a training ground for legendary artists and musicians.
Standout performers such as Willie Nelson, Roger MIller, Johnny
Paycheck, Johnny Bush, steel guitar master, Buddy Immons,
fiddler, Pete Wade, and numerous others were regular members
of the The Cherokee Cowboys. |
| In
July, 1952. Price had his first giant hit "Talk To
Your Heart." He followed this with another hit within
two months with "Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes."
In 1954, Ray reached the top of the charts with "I'll
Be There," and "Release Me." Country
Music historians said Ray picked up where Hank Williams left
off. His phrasing and control were compared to that of an
Opera Singer. Many other of Ray's hits are considered Country
Standards today such as "Crazy Arms," "Heartaches
By The Number," "Make The World Go Away," "For
The Good Times" and many others. |
| He
enjoys sold out houses and critical acclaim. The Los Angeles
Times labeled him, "A National Treasure".
Recent performances include a wide variety of venues such
as the White House, major casinos, Symphonies and Performing
Arts Centers and Clubs. In 1996, Ray received the highest
honor in Country Music when he was inducted into the Country
Music Hall Of Fame. Kris Kristofferson, the presenter
of the award, termed Ray a living link from Hank Williams
to the Country Music of today. |
